Hamilton's
Centre for Civic Inclusion (HCCI) is a community-based civic
resource centre, committed to working as a catalyst for
anti-racist change across Hamilton. HCCI will initiate and
support transformative processes that promote equity and create
racism-free and inclusive environments in all areas of civic
life.
Hamilton's Centre for Civic Inclusion (HCCI) will assist the
City, major institutions, business, service providers, and
others to initiate and sustain transformative processes to
create racism-free and inclusive environments. It will develop
and share training and education resources, and enable easier
access to relevant research and information. Hamilton’s Centre
for Civic Inclusion (HCCI) will also be a source of support and
information to newcomer immigrant and refugee communities,
diverse ethno-racial and ethno-cultural groups and Aboriginal
communities. It will help build community leadership and enable
productive dialogues and partnerships between marginalized and
'centralized' communities, organizations and institutions.

Promote initiatives that heighten the public's awareness and
understanding of the impactsof racism and efective actions that
can be taken to address the problem. Facilitate the development
and dissemination of efective models, guidelines and "best
practices" in anti-racism work, utilizing in particular,
principles embedded in HCCI's Anti-Racism Strategic Framework.

Promote and facilitate the development of partnerships and
multi-sector initiatives to create racism-free environments in
all areas of civic life, including social, cultural, and
economic arenas. Promote and facilitate full participation of
Hamilton's racial, cultural and religious minorities in
decision-making processes afecting the city and its
institutions, in line with principles of inclusion and the civic
importance of fostering leadership and maintaining the vitality
of the democratic process. Promote and facilitate development of
partnerships between key institutions and racialized communities
in order to create inclusive, racism-free environments within
four major sectors of civic life:
